Apply for SSA Professional Membership
The SSA are now inviting applications for Professional Membership to the society.
Becoming a Professional Member of the Society of Scottish Artists
The Society of Scottish Artists is an active network of artists with an international membership of around 550 and a Professional Membership of 114. Run for and by artists since its inception in 1891, the SSA aims to provide exhibition opportunities for artists from all over the world, to promote education and communication and to raise awareness of current art making in Scotland and abroad.
Professional Membership is for artists who are actively practising professionally within one or more branches of the Visual Arts and is by selection only in recognition of their talent and dedication in this field. Professional Membership permits you to add the post-nominal title ‘SSA’ after your name to indicate that you hold this professional accreditation.
Professional Members have all the benefits of Ordinary Membership but in addition may submit up to four works at the Annual Exhibition and pay a lower rate of commission on sales (30% as opposed to Ordinary Members 35% and Non-Members 40%). They are also eligible to submit work to SSA Professional Member Shows.
Ordinary Members are eligible for consideration and election to Professional membership providing they meet the following criteria:
• They have been an Ordinary Member for at least the last two concurrent years and their fees have not lapsed
• They have had work accepted into the Annual Exhibition at least once within the last two years
Ordinary Members who meet the above criteria and wish to be considered should click here to download an application form.
Submission Deadline: Sunday 28 July 2013
