Artist’s Studio At Ben Lawers Mountain Range

The Studio at the Big Shed, TombreckWould you, or anyone you know, be interested in hiring an artist’s studio at the Ben Lawers mountain range with direct access to the hills and Loch Tay?

The Big Shed is an award winning building owned by a community interest collective situated about an hours drive from Stirling and is a community anchor project.  It has launched the Loch Tay Food Chain and has helped regenerate the local community of Tombreck.

It has a range of facilities, large meeting and concert hall, commercial kitchen, toilets and shower, meeting space, outdoor space, workshop and a live-in artist’s/craft studio of 60m2 in an open plan attic space on the first floor.

It is suited to artists working with clean media: digital film/photography, textiles, weaving, leatherwork, jewellery, small scale painting and printing, model-makers, illustrators, poets, writers, collaborators, performance, sound artists. It would not suit artists creating works over 6ft, because of the door heights. It may also be suitable for activities such as reiki or massage, an arts summer school, or a small business. Broadband and wifi available.

The studio space has a timber lined ceiling and Velux windows. It has a platform lift, electric sockets, and a Belfast sink with hot and cold water. The artist in residence has access to the ground floor shower and toilet.  Rental as a live/work studio includes heat, lighting, water and electricity.

The studio is  currently leased to artist Anne Gilchrist, and will become available for rental after the end of 2013.
