Artist Book Workshop 2012

City of Glasgow College HND: Contemporary Art Practice

Building on our relationship with City of Glasgow Colleges formed in 2011, this workshop was devised and led by Louise Ritchie and Leena Nammari and was intended as a creative visual response to SSA 2012. Held in the heart of the RSA Galleries and SSA Exhibition itself, we explored ways to create artists` books which were interpretations of either one or several works exhibited. Various methods of layout were explored and the books included drawings, text, cut outs, folding, line & tone studies and stitching. At the end of the workshop we installed the books within the exhibition itself where they remained alongside the other exhibits until our show closed. This year we welcome printmaker Catherine Hiley from Edinburgh Printmakers and Dundee visual artist Astrid Leeson who will be both supporting and contributing to the event.

This wonderful opportunity continues to engage students in a project that allows them to experience and document their experience of SSA Annual Exhibition in a creatively diverse and intriguing way. We look forward to hosting City of Glasgow College students once more on 21st March 2013.
