Statement

Statement

I’m a writer, producer, socially engaged artist and privileged white man. Driven by a personal conflict between the identity conferred upon me by my forebears’ actions and the modern social values I hold, I use live and filmed performance to precipitate interdisciplinary discussions about how we tell stories about ourselves and our nationhood. Through this I hope to participate in a new, more nuanced, collective imaginary.

Biography

I’m a performance artist, producer, and opera librettist. I’m inspired by people and place to create and facilitate work that opens dialogue about how we tell stories about ourselves. Much of my work is participatory, as I believe that lived experience is best understood by doing and sharing in an inclusive community of becoming.

I am currently undertaking Artistic Research into the Hagiography of the Scottish Highland Warrior, at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee, under the supervision of Gair Dunlop and Dr Matt Graham.
