Statement
Statement |
My work is abstract in nature heavily influenced by the environment I inhabit and travel through. My studio process is constantly evolving through research, dialogue and experimenting with alternative and traditional printmaking and photographic techniques with materials of clay, wood and fleece. Materiality is a key factor in my artwork.

Biography
Biography | I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in my studio in Innellan. I am originally from Cork and moved to Glasgow in 2004 to take up a placement as a visual art tutor with Project Ability where I currently tutor .Over the last five years I have investigated the use of alternative photographic techniques inspired by residencies at Benmore Botanic Garden (2018/19) The National Library of Scotland and the SOC Scottish Ornithological Club (2019/20) .With support from VACMA (2020 & 2021)I explored solar plate etching techniques with cyanotype printmaking combining both processes on Japanese handmade papers, recycled cotton and linen fabrics resulting in a series of prints that I have exhibited throughout 2021/2022 /2023 nationally and internationally.I was awarded a Creative Scotland grant in 2023 to explore the process of wood lithography. Currently I have five ongoing projects including my freelance work in community arts engagement. 1. Seed – Plant – Share is my research into harvesting natural dye pigments from plants.I am part of an international community of Indigo and Woad growers, a six month project,From Seed to Blue led by artist & expert dyer Elisabeth Viguie- Culshaw. 2.From Fleece to Felt is my exploration into using local raw fleece from sheep farmed in Glen Massan, Dunoon, with local natural dyes to create interior & wearable adornments. 3.Wood Lithography also known as Mokulitho, a lithography technique using a wood matrix that encompasses my love of mark making and print, funded by Creative Scotland(2023) 4.Porcelain and silver Jewellery exploring surface pattern through printmaking with porcelain slip, with designs inspired by coastal lines and botanical forms, hand finished with traditional silver smithing techniques. 5.Coastal ceramic forms incorporating hand formed porcelain clay with black porcelain slip printed iwith handcut stencils and and sgraffito pattern.
